Since 1975, Westchester Jewish Council (WJC) has served as the central, coordinating and advisory resource for Westchester County, NY, working closely with 150 local member organizations.

CHALLENGE:
Westchester Jewish Council believed that neighboring Putnam County was underserved in terms of resources for Jewish residents. The organization needed to understand the Jewish population and the organizations serving their needs in order to develop targeted programming.

SOLUTION:
We conducted a comprehensive needs assessment. Interviews with a diverse group of community leaders, as well as a population study commissioned with a leading demographer, led to recommendations to enhance Jewish life.

RESULT:
Working with clergy, professionals and lay leaders, we identified the service need/gap and priorities as well as potential collaborations.
